Baker Tiffany - Score: 93.000

The program objectives are very specific and measurable. The programming timeline for the year appears ambitious but manageable.

Impact is significant for the amount of funds requested. Programs that are offered are targeted to a wide variety of ages and learning styles.

Marketing plan includes both traditional and new tools.

Only management concern is the small deficit for previous fiscal year as reflected in the budget.

Includes specific goals and measures for success, with emphasis on increasing participation by younger and African American audiences. Estimated number benefitting (25,000) exceeds annual attendance showing intention of strong outreach. While fiscally stabile, the museum had a small deficit last year. A new annual appeal drive and membership campaign should help strengthen financial resources. Support from the city of Winter Park ($80,000) is a plus. Evaluation methods should be strengthened. Review of accessibility standards has led to plans for improvement in this area.

For the Evaluation Plan section, it would be nice to share how educational programs are evaluated. For example, is there an evaluation form in place for lectures, school programs, etc.?

Winter Park History Museum (WPHM) seeks funding to support the operation of the Museum and the additional educational services and programs through exhibitions, historic walking tour, speaker programs, student tours, oral history collection, special events, research resources and children’s programs. Goals and objectives seem reasonable, increases in attendance, increase in student visits, update a permanent collection exhibition, and increase off site visits.  Love the Penelope program.  Again, will comment on the limited access hours, convenient for staff and volunteers, not so much to full time workers to visit the museum.  Even so, their attendance is impressive for this size of an institution.  Good community partnerships, manageable timeline, and standard collections procedures.  It would have been nice to get a summary of the collected artifacts, although I got a sense of some on display in one of the attached - thank you.  In discussing impact, it was noted that exhibition content is driven and informed by community volunteers.  Understanding this better would be helpful, since criteria in the narrative rests with interest in subject and willingness to volunteer.   Economic impact is a bit vague.  Perhaps the American Alliance of Museum's could provide some tools here.  Great creative outreach programs. Although wheelchair accessible with advance calling, I would want to know if the organization is ADA compliant or to at least attach the 504 Self Evaluation.  Giving them the benefit of the doubt.

You have developed a variety of programs to attract participation and have plans to increase outreach. Organization has a clear sense of self and significant community support. A good resource for the community and for visitors from elsewhere. Congratulations on completing your first accessibility assessment, an eye-opening experience.
